When dry ice is placed in a gel-like liquid together with paint pigments, the laminar flow phenomenon, well known in fluid dynamics, occurs. This work captures this phenomenon with a high-speed camera. The bubbles in the dry ice take on unexpected shapes and movements over time, creating strange and unexpected shapes of paint in contrast to the usual steady laminar flow. The director of Kenninji temple told me that I could experience the meditation of ZEN by being enveloped in the space of this natural phenomenon, which is never the same twice.
